The Bontanical Garden “Jardin Botanico” of Maspalomas

On 12,000 m2 you can admire the 500 different plants from all over the world. On a trip to Maspalomas the visit to this small park is absolutely recommendable for every plant and nature lovers. The entrance is for free.

Parque Tony Gallardo

This botanical garden is located in a nature reserve near the dunes. An extremely nice garden and worthwhile seeing. It is home to predominantly indigenous plants. Unfortunately, the garden has been closed for several years. Maintenance work is currently under way. It was planned to reopen the gates to this wonderful place again in January 2018, but so far this has not happened.

The Brackish Water Lake – Bird Sanctuary

An interesting natural phenomenon. It is a small freshwater lake called “La Charca” (the puddle). It literally is an oasis that provides habitat for various bird species and gives the area its name “El Oasis”.

The Lighthouse “Faro de Maspalomas”

One of the oldest lighthouses of the Canary Islands. The lighthouse was commissioned in 1890 to guide the ships in the Atlantic Ocean. In the nice building there is now a tourist information office, a shop for Canarian handicrafts and an ethnographic center, which can be visited free of charge between 10 am and 5 pm. For visitors it is also interesting because of the location at the southernmost point of Gran Canaria. An excursion into the area around the Faro is popular in the evening hours to see the colorful play of the beautiful sunsets.

The Market Halls San Fernando

The market takes place on Wednesdays and Saturdays between 9 am and 2 pm. Handbags, clothing, household goods as well as souvenirs are offered here. You can find also fresh vegetables, fruits and food.

Leisure Parks in Maspalomas and Meloneras

Holiday World: The leisure park with funfair ambiance offers some smaller rides and a playroom. It is suitable for an excursion with small children. The kids love the offered activities. And maybe you want to have a game of bowling with the family. You can also eat and drink something there.

Aqualand: The water park is fun for the big and small water enthusiasts. The water park is a bit out of the way but easy to reach by bus. The park is not very large but nevertheless offers a few highlights with the different slides.

Palmitos Park: The bird and animal park is perfect for a day trip. It is located a little further inland, but easy to reach by public bus. Not only recommendable for families with children. The park has a great landscaped outdoor area and it also offers several entertaining animal shows with birds of prey and dolphins.

Golf Courses in Maspalomas and Meloneras

Golf Course Maspalomas: It is an 18-hole golf course. The golf course is spacious, flat and laid out with long, wide fairways. The mild sea breeze and the view of the dunes make the course a particularly pleasant experience for the golf player.

Golf Course Meloneras: This golf course also has 18 holes. It is an oasis of palm trees and lakes that are inserted directly into the coastal landscape of Meloneras. The golf course has four tees per hole and is therefore equally attractive both for professional and amateur golfers.

Nightlife in Maspalomas and Meloneras

In Maspalomas there are some nice restaurants and bar where you can end the evening comfortably. For more hustle and bustle, go to one of the shopping centers of Playa del Inglés such as the CITA, the Kasbah or the Jumbo. Or enjoy the solid, more luxurious ambience in the trendy bars in Meloneras and celebrate, for example, in the Agua until the morning hours.

The Shopping Centers in Masplomas and Meloneras

Shopping Center Faro2: The shopping center is very nicely built architecturally, the well-known Canarian artist Cesar Manrique from Lanzarote was involved its project. Unfortunately today it is hardly visited.

Shopping Center Varadero: Located in the area of Meloneras. Shopping fans will find some great shops here. Bars and restaurants are also available. After the visit you can stroll comfortably over the Boulevard de Meloneras to the lighttower Faro and enjoy the sunset.

There are also smaller shopping centers, such as Faro1 and Oasis.
