Description
The perfect summer walking tour. To avoid the heat it begins a bit earlier and leads through a deep gorge which is shady throughout the morning hours. You will start at the picturesque church of the village of Cercados de Espino. This valley is known for its varied vegetation. Here you will find many endemic plants with enormous dimensions compared to other places on the island. The route of the walking tour leads through abandoned farms, past old Canarian shepherd huts. At the highest point you will stop for a small picnic and enjoy the impressive view: the Tauro Massif, the vertical walls of the Barranco Escusabarajas up to the first pine trees of the natural Park of Pilancones. And by noon when the temperature starts raising you will already have the pleasure of enjoying some of the most popular tapas in typical Canarian restaurant.

Great well paced hike, tapas at end with the group was a perfect way to finish a hike.

Dear Sofie, many thanks for the great hike! We were a small group, had a very tasty snack in between and typical tapas at the end of the tour. We also learned a lot about the history of the country, about plants and geology. I would definitely do the hike again.
